Yet another awesome release from the BBP label to hit the streets. This groovy and funky release is the debut single on BBP for Mick who was the winner of the funky breaks category in Breakbeat Contest 2006. "The Hip Scene Fequency EP" really showcases Mick's amazing talent to mix and put together funky breaks based on old 60s and 70s secondhand grooves. With a fresh nu skool sound and at the same time being funky as hell this release is a must check out for all breakbeat-fans!
The EP kicks of with the electro funk original of the groovy upbeat "Hip Scene Fequency". Followed up by the smashing progressive funk remix by Dj BadboE. The sweet vocal and cool guitar hook makes this song and state-of-the-art funky break tune!
The flip-side brings you some more outstanding material from Mick's funk factory. "Mr. Thunderbird" is a jolly funky breaker with nice and groovy beat and a superb brass section! The final tune "No Moderate Stimulation" is a true breakbeat perl - a mellow and downtempo tune in true "fatboy slim-style".
Let's hope for a lot more releases from the Mick source in the future...
