Pale the Kid is brand new act from Greece but the people behind it: DJ Kid Stretch and Pale Penguin are skilled producers that has been doing damage in the breaks scene for a long time.
DJ Kid Stretch, former champ of Greek DMC, has been releasing several tunes for the "Battle of the Breaks" soundtracks and most recently dropped the very successful Good Groove 12" that made it all the way to the no. 1 spot on the breakbeat chart.
Pale Penguin has been active in the Greek electronic scene since the early nineties and has been DJing alongside some of the biggest names in breakbeat as well as running the tech-break label V.I.M Records.
Together they form a perfect blend of their individual backgrounds with the music that can best be described as “uplifting Electronic Disco-Breaks for the dancefloor with Funky, Soul and Rave drops”.
BBP Recordings is very proud to introduce their very first release from Pale the Kid: Work That Sucker EP with 2 fresh remixes from the nu funk legends Basement Freaks and Calagad13.
A. Pale the Kid work's up some serious electro breaks on the title tune Work That Sucker with a smooth cocktail of mindblowing disco cuts and pumping basslines. A perfect examples of how well the Pale-Kid concept works!
B. Calagad13 is without doubt a man that never disappoints on a remix and he Works up this Sucker real good! This is funky disco breaks at its finest and it shows just about every trick in the book about how to produce a groovy breakbeat tune! Pumping beats - funky wah wah guitar, disco grooves and lots vocal cuts - who can ask for more?
C. Pale the Kid pumps up things a bit on the flipside with the vocal driven Power of Bass. With a banging nu skool break and some twisted synthlines this should keep the dancefloors busy anywhere.
D. It’s a great pleasure to have Basement Freaks back on the BBP with an awesome remix of Power of Bass. Basement Freaks manages to though in some traditional funk flutes and horns into the big electro atmosphere - and the result is off the hook - check it out!
HALOBEATZ (BASS REFLECTIONS, V.I.M.BREAKS, NUBEATZ)
WOHOU! - Power of bass is GREAT - wanna play it
i know the sample already several times
but you guys placed it different
therefore it got a total nu-groove
very nice, and also basement freaks rmx is very cool
very good acoustic samples and instruments which some audience
will dig for sure -i´m looking forward to try that
get into the muse
both sucker tunes are pretty cool as well
this is the funky shit
to be honest grigoris, i never buy "releases"
download just single tunes that i like, but this EP feels most ONE
or belonging together, this would make sense to buy at once
it´s really a great release
CLAAS REIMER (WI:RE project, V.I.M.BREAKS, BASSTARD)
cool stuff, funkytronic style, good vibe music :-)
ZAMALI (MICHIGAN, TIMEWARP MUSIC)
I really dig it. Nice work guys.
My favourite tracks from the pack is your original of "Power Of Bass" & also Georges's Ric)emix, more funky. The other track is nice too, more house old school & i might play it in my sets too with the right crowd.
I like both original tracks better which means that you did a great job with them, all the best & good luck with the release.
ED ROYAL (INNVISION RECORDS)
...love "work that sucker" and also the remix.
Really cool beat and love the disco in the track. Really fresh style. played it this weekend and test it also next week in slovakia and germany.
really cool sounds.
"power of bass" is not my thing. I don´t like the vocals.
Basement Freaks remix is o.k. and a great flute and cool beat, but here
comes also the vocals.I play "work that sucker" and the remix in all my next dj-sets.
Respect and good work.
MAELSTROM (KATORZA, WEST RECORDS)
nice package, I like the overhall disco vibe, not sure if I'll play it out though, because I'm not often booked to play funky sets ;)
CHRIS AIRPLAYS (BRAP FM)
My response for this release:
Feeling the Calagad13 Remix of Work That Sucker, wicked disco vibe with quality edits and a lovely funky break.
KYULO (DEFT COMPOUNDZ on IBREAKS RADIO)
Good to see the Pale The Kid stuff is ready to it the streets!
My favorites are "Work That Sucker (original)" and "The Power Of Bass (Basement Freaks rmx)" these will surely get some plays!
The Power Of Bass (original) is less my thing because of the snare you used, don't like that sound at all and also there's too much you used use of that vocal, I can't really stand it... but that's my personal taste ;) The Calagad13 rmx of Work That Sucker isn't bad at all and I'll play that in the right kind of sets, but mostly I'll be rinsing the original.
Well, that's about it...
The complete package is cool and good material for the summer!
ELECTRIC SOULSIDE (POTTY MOUTH, CONTROL BREAKS, V.I.M.BREAKS, ERASE)

DOCTRASHZ (ERASE, V.I.M.BREAKS, BREAKBEAT PARADISE, KILLATUNES)
great funky work here!
for sure I use the basement freaks remix of power bass, and the original of work that sucker on my partys!
Without a doubt; a chunk of funk filled fiya! Ive now come to expect nothing less from the guys at BBP. Clagad13 provides us with a smooth disco groover perfect for shakin the rump! The Basement Freaks also offer some special dancefloor fodder with their excellent remix effort. The original work that sucker is also a wonderful disco excursion thats bound top work dancefloors hard. But the stand out for me is definitely Power of Bass (original). Expect to hear ALL of these on forthcoming Breakonomics shows!! Heavy RO!
Mikael Palner (Auditory Designs)
BBP proves that they are here to stay, with this super funky disco break. Work That Sucker takes disco into 2009, Calaged 13 remixes it into a funky super blaster and Basement Freaks gives it real breakbeat power to the dancefloor. Will play this for sure.
